General Q&A
Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs is a real-time strategy (RTS) video game developed by Object Software Limited (formerly known as Overmax Studios) in 2002 for the PC.It is based on the historical background of the epic 14th century novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong and the famous Battle of Red Cliffs (Battle of Chibi). For Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs on the PC, GameFAQs has 26 cheat codes and secrets. Dragon Throne begins firmly planted on the coattails of other successful games, but wanders off before developing into a solid game in its own right. Although similar to other games in the genre, Red Cliffs misses a few ingredients in the recipe.
Define 'Game Theatre'
The Game Theatre is an immersive gaming and live role-play entertainment company. They are the creators of an interactive experience called “Game Theatre”(TM). Game Theatre is a specialized event system combining live role play (sometimes referred to as ‘Larp’), tabletop and social gaming, plus improvisational theater to create memorable adventures. In Game Theatre players are 'cast' into character roles that meet their interest and desired level of involvement. Everyone is also given meaningful objectives that create compelling story progression. Events are designed so everyone, no matter what their experience or background is, can have an amazing shared adventure. Designs are precisely assembled so players with or without gaming experience can become involved quickly and exert influence on the world.
What is Dragon Thrones?
Dragon Thrones is an interactive weekend experience set in an original fantasy realm inspired by popular medieval and fantasy fiction worlds many know and love. Thematic spectator entertainment, catered dinner + meals, historical surroundings, and lodging is all inclusive. Gameplay involved multiple different types of social interaction, including role play, large-scale war and diplomacy gaming, open world questing and scavenger hunts, ‘Escape Room’ style puzzles, and much more! What is important is that players can choose what features are of interest to them and participate in those features to bring glory (or comedic tragedy) to their House. Yes, there is victory and defeat in Dragon Thrones, but the motto is the “real winners are those who do what is best for the story!”

What are the role play rules?
Dragon Thrones uses “rules light but story heavy” play-styles, meaning beginners do not have to worry about rules — our staff can lead the way! The Dragon Thrones role play game (RPG) uses an established storytelling system called ‘FATE’, which is a simple system that allows players to take epic actions when they want to. You do not need to know anything about FATE prior to attending the event — you professional staff of Game Masters will lead the way! If you do have role play experience and need a quick refresher on the FATE system here is a relatively recent and well stated video on FATE.
What is the level of physical involvement?
Dragon Thrones is large and diverse like a game convention or medieval faire — there are a lot of options for exploration and adventure! However, all features tie into the overarching story. The event is designed so anyone, no matter their backgrounds, physical limitation, or interest level can participate in every feature, or conversely, choose to not participate in a particular feature. At Dragon Thrones personal choice and consent it king!
Apps u can win money on. What does my ticket purchase get me?
Simply put: an “all-inclusive” medieval fantasy adventure! Your ticket provides you with the entire adventure plus a nice hotel room, all meals, drinks and snacks, bar, entertainment, photography, scheduled festivities, plus the ability to be a part of an epic story! Due to the fact that players have different roles, are of different shapes and sizes, and have different degrees of what they consider as personal comfort costuming is not provided — but we are happy to advise on affordable costuming and have team costume boards for review.
We believe the value of Dragon Thrones is superior to weekend conventions. At conventions you are responsible for the convention ticket, and then must also pay for your hotel, meals, drinks, possibly parking, and then tickets to other features and events at the convention. With all costs being separate the budget adds up quickly. With Dragon Thrones, just like a vacation cruise, everything is all inclusive!
**IMPORTANT (and we always advise about this policy over the phone): TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. This is because once a ticket is purchased that reserves the room and role spot. Dragon Thrones is a large production so ticket proceeds are used to help build and pay for the event to make it as special as possible for all players. Therefore, payments in full or partial payments are not refundable. If you are not yet certain if you can attend Dragon Thrones contact us! Let us know you are interested and when would be the best time for you to make a decision. That is the best solution for someone who needs more time. We can work with you.

Describe the large board game and how does it work with a Larp?
Dragon Thrones features a large tactical board game, called a MegaGame, where the objective is for a Family Kingdom Team (called a ‘House’ or ‘Clan’) to attain global supremacy (while also working with other Houses as allies). This can be achieved by gaining territory, defending territory, finding treasure, using resources wisely, trading with other lands, passing or defeating proposed laws, spying, and making the right alliances at the right times. Trade, resources, artistry, and diplomacy are as important as the war — just like in life, global influence is just as important as winning a field battle.
The game is administered over a series of rounds over two days. Hence, players who want to be involved in the Megagame can contribute in different ways. It feels like players are immersed in an entire world. For example, Generals will have board game (war game) responsibility, while others will have social objectives (diplomacy, courtship etc.), while others will be trading vital resources (coin masters) or even assigned as secret spies on missions!
The Megagame is “opt in”. There are players who choose to not be involved with this feature and are rather more invested in other types of social interaction and adventuring when the rounds are occurring. Dragon Thrones is a world you help create and the Game Masters do not limit your creative options.
'May the best House ascend to my favor'
“Peace through Ascension”
Every 13 years during the summer Apex Solstice, when the sun is brightest, and the days the longest, the High Rulers of a magical realm called Kambria send their finest armies, champion warriors, and gifted mages, along with their most cunning diplomats, skilled tradesmen, and talented artists to the Citadel of the Golden Dragon. There the finest of all the Houses enter a grandiose competition called: The Ascension.
The Ascension was created as a means of control and as a lesson to all of Kambria's Kingdoms -- that The House of the Golden Dragon shall always reign supreme because it knows what is best for Kambria. Through the Ascension, the House of the Golden Dragon maintains order over all other Houses, and by this competition, the Houses keep favor with the Golden Dragon King. The Victors of The Ascension ascend to the lofty Golden Court of the Dragon King, where they live an eternally privileged existence while placing stakes and exerting their influence over the Kingdom Houses.

Kambria is a stunning landscape and a peaceful place, a utopia in many ways, a realm where rival civilizations follow the orders of the Dragon King that 'No war or armed conflict shall ever be sanctioned in the 13 years in between each Ascension!' This makes Kambria a continent of imagination and ingenuity. However, when the 13th year is rung all of Kambria knows what awaits -- a competition of unsurpassed magnitude that tests each House in every way conceivable, with the winners earning the most favor of the Dragon King. With much of its history lost in The Great Elder Dragon Wars - Kambria is a continent that celebrates 'Peace through Ascension'…
Indeed, the Dragon King believes he knows what is best for Kambria, and The Ascension is the way, the way to keep the peace, the way to better the Realm, the way that you must follow.
The Pre-History
Kambria was once a continent under the dominion of 13 god-like entities known as the Elder Dragons. They arrived out of nowhere as if they were descending Gods. They were powerful and seductive Dragon Lords, lured to Kambria by its intense, naturally occurring magic, leylines throughout the atmosphere referred to as 'The Essence.' Long the elves and fae warned against the abuse of Kambria's magic, but its allure became overwhelming to the humans. The overuse of magic created streams of magical scents that drifted from Kambria reaching far off, to distant reaches of the multiverse - seeping into an unnamed realm, one of many portals to other realms. In one uncharted area, dragons tasted the slightest hint of Kambria's magic, an intoxicant for the Dragons. The dragons slowly traced the magic, and eventually reached Kambria -- claiming this world for their own. And thus, the Age of the Dragon began.
The Essence permeates all within the Realm, it is the reason for life, beauty, and innovation. To avoid conflict between one another, the Elder Dragons agreed to divide Kambria evenly, each taking their own vast swath and land and sea with their own personal source of the Essence stored within Kambria's great Places of Power.
Soon, the Elder Dragons forced themselves upon those they ruled as idols of worship. The humans, elves, dwarves, and fae that had long lived in Kambria before the dragons were forced to compromise their ways of life. Over time, the Elder Dragons implemented their own form of rule, replacing traditional customs with new cultures in their own likeness and name.
Caring little to administer their domains, the Elder Dragons created their own race of demi-rulers -- the half-dragon and half-human overlords called Draconians. The Draconians took on the likeness of their Elder Dragon creator. They were the perfect rulers for their Elders, often powerful and stoic, and caring nothing for consuming the magical Essence. The Draconians ruled, and the Elder Dragons continued to feast on magic and live like Gods.
The Elder Dragons developed a symbolic system as well to mirror the richness of Kambria's resources. The dragons chose a Kambrian gem identifier that mostly matched their physiology and power. There was soon the Bronze Dragon of the north, the Emerald Dragon of the West, the Ruby Dragon East, the Topaz Dragon of the sea, the Opal Dragon of the under-lands, and so forth… 13 unchallengeable tyrants divided Kambria in an array of colors. Be it that, so as long as the Elder Dragons did not overstep their own domain into that of another dragon, their rule would remain absolute and in a mutual statemate with one another.
Game Of Throne Dragon Fights
For generations, the Elder Dragons consumed The Essence, and the Draconians did their Elders' bidding for top favor. Life was actually routine under dragon rule, there was little strife, no famine, and not much cruelty to speak of as long as the Elder Dragons had enough Essence to consume in equal parts. However, when the flowing Essence began to run dry, tension replaced calm, conflict replaced peace, and strife replaced prosperity.
Was it overconsumption of the Essence by the Elder Dragons? Was it the Ancient Elven magic protecting the world? Or perhaps The Gods grew tired of watching the Dragons feed like pigs upon this world. Either way, the lack of The Essence caused the Elder Dragons to attack one another. Thus began the Great Dragon War.
When the Essence dried up, and magic became scarce, the Elder Dragons became instant rivals. Neighboring Kingdoms began raiding into each other's territories where the Essence was sporadically appearing near their Places of Power, resulting in a terrible conflict pitting each Elder Dragon and its House against the other.
Draconians slew Draconians, humans battled humans, and elves, dwarves, and fae were even asked to take up arms against one another, but their better nature compelled them to refuse the conflict. Unlike humans, they all saw no purpose being involved in this wretched war. The feeling throughout Kambria was that the entire Realm was approaching a downfall into an era of darkness… and Thus Began The Age of Darkness.
The warfare between the dragons was total in scope, they would not relent with their armies of Draconians and humans. Soon, entire Kingdoms were leveled, and their Elder Dragon was slain by a rival Elder Dragon invader -- these dragons who once feasted off the Essence began to feast off one another… The cycle of fire and blood continued until there was just one Elder Dragon who remained, the self-proclaimed 'Dragon of Destiny,' who outlasted all of his kind to become the sole master of all Kambria. The destined Dragon was not surprising to many after all this Dragon was extraordinary, the rarest and most powerful of all dragons..he is a Golden Dragon.
Most of what transpired during the Dragon Wars is lost to history, yet the legend that exists states the Golden Dragon was victorious because of his magical gift -- he possessed the rarest of dragon powers, the power of Benefaction. This power allows him to give others gifts of what they desired. Benefaction is a powerful ability that can be both used for nearly any purpose, whether lawful or devious. When beings want something, it may, or may not, be good for them. Thus, the Golden Dragon could manipulate rivals by giving them what was not always best for them -- but what was best for HIM.
Through Benefaction the Golden Dragon was able to emulate the intoxicating taste of Kambria's Essence and gain temporary Elder Dragon allies - paying them in what they truly desired 'The Essence' bringing unsuspecting Elder Dragons together under his rule if only for one battle, enough to help him defeat the others, one at a time. If his ally died or was defeated, it was just as good as if his ally defeated his target. One by one, he would pit Dragon against Dragon until there was only one remaining - the Platinum Elder Dragon - with the power of Indestructibility.
He was prepared for this, the youngest of the Elder Dragons, he took advantage, and trained him from his youth, taught him to fight the rest in a final battle. But also prepared him with a mighty weakness. And in a final showdown, The Golden Dragon of Destiny, struck down the Platinum Dragon in a grand display of Essence and power - tragically, the Platinum Dragon hesitated to kill his once mentor which proved to be his demise. The Golden Dragon, last of his kind, now last Elder here in Kambria, immediately was able to seize control and bring about new world order. Now with the 12 other dragons destroyed, the Essence of Kambria was able to return slowly, but that was never The Golden Dragon's true desire. He desired Power, Control, and Order above all… The Golden Dragon was indeed unique, he was the one dragon who had no need or true hunger for the Essence, no need for earthly devices, instead of this Dragon always saw himself as the one divine being who was destined to be the living god of Kambria and to instill balance over all the known world.
Upon his victory, he created a Golden Citadel for his House of the Golden Dragon. Within his House he established the Golden Court, consisting of high-ranking Draconians, Elves, and Humans, who had sided with the Elder Dragon during the Dragon Wars and pledged an oath to the Golden Dragon, creating the first Golden Court.
The House of the Golden Dragon then gave the rest of Kambria a year for all the other Houses, that were no longer under the rule of their Elder Dragon, to pledge the same oath to the Gold Court. This year was called the Reverie. Some did swear their oath, while others would refuse, leaving most Houses in Kambria starkly divided. And Thus began the Age of Renewal.
The Great Extinguishment
After the Reverie came to its conclusion, the Golden Dragon issued one last opportunity for all the Houses to recite the Golden Court's oath. However, a great rebellion was being planned, led by the elves, dwarves, and fae of Kambria: known as the 'Children of the Fae,' a rebellion to topple the House of the Golden Dragon and extinguish all dragon-kind and human sympathizers from Kambria.
This rebellion called The Great Extinguishment called upon all in Kambria, human and Draconian alike, to see past the Golden Court's agenda and cleanse the continent of dragon dominion in any form. However, the elves, dwarves, and fae had trouble gaining universal support from the humans and Draconians. The Faebourne were resented by the humans and Draconians for not entering the Dragon Wars. Furthermore, most humans and Draconians gave their oath to the Golden Court to restore their own House to prominence in the eyes of the Golden Dragon, while others were still loyal to the slain Elder Dragons that once ruled their lands. The Children of the Fae marched on, rallying support where they could, in their eyes, the Golden Court had to be eliminated now. To them, the Golden Dragon would only become more powerful in time, and this would mean the eventual end to their way of life as they knew it.
Upon hearing the word of the rebellion and the dominant opposition being assembled, filled with ranks of Fae kind who possessed unique fighting skills, senses, and magics not found in traditional human armies, the Golden Dragon announced a proclamation:
'May your House pledge your oath me, and I shall, in return, hold your House in my high favor, you House can begin to return to your own old ways, the customs and gods your people once worshiped before the Elder Dragons arrived. I eliminated the dragons so this moment could be. Those Houses that oppose the Golden Court will be proclaimed traitors in an unlawful rebellion. Those who only want to bring war back to our Realm, far too soon after I ended all wars. Those houses shall be punished. However, those Houses that are allied with The Golden Court or who swear fealty to me now, shall in return receive the grandest of gifts, something that can make the desires of your High Rulers come to life…a gift of great power that will keep you and your people safe under your ruler's reign.'

The Great Extinguishment was a civil war that split every House. In some Houses, the Draconians only pledged the oath and slew the humans within. In other Houses, the Draconians refused the Golden Dragon and vowed to honor the memory of their own past dragon ruler, so they were slain by the humans within that House with the assistance of the Golden Court. The Children of the Fae fought against all those who pledged an oath to the Golden Dragon and saw many early successes in battle, however, one House of Fae-Kind secretly took the Dragon King's oath and were given a great gift of power- allowing them to destroy the Children of the Fae and bring their own Dynasty to ultimate glory. With this shift in power, thousands of fae were killed, enslaved, or scattered around the Realm. Now they are lost in Kambria, hidden within other houses or pushed to a Clan that lives by the sea. After the rebellions were quashed, there was only one real mega power, The Golden Dragon, to reign supreme above all kingdoms, and all other high rulers. Thus began, The Golden Age.
The Golden Age
The Dragon King kept true to his word. The Houses that remained were those that recited his oath to the Golden Court, some Houses were that of humans, others Draconian. It was again lawful for these Houses to look back to their history and revive the 'old ways' of their ancient ancestors. The Dragon King proclaimed that a new age had begun, The Golden Age, and to commemorate this great revival of Kambria the Dragon King kept to his word -- he gifted a seat only fitting for a King or Queen of the great Houses of Kambria, one crafted of the magics and bodies of the defeated Elder Dragons of old, with the power to channel their ancestor's Draconic gifts -- all within their own unique Dragon Throne. With each Throne came a price, each of the 12 was magically tethered to one, The Golden Dragon's own Dragon Throne.
The majesticness of the Dragon Thrones was both in their beauty and their power. When the High Rulers first set eyes upon them, it was retold by their own advisers that it was as if their breath was taken away, that there was simply no description fitting for the Dragon Thrones. The thrones left King and Queens alike in staggered splendor, with a lust over these treasures and the powers bestowed never before experienced. Through each Dragon Throne, it is as if the Dragon King himself pierced the heart of each ruler with a feeling of elated enchantment that could not be matched, not even by the Essence of Kambria itself.
Game Of Thrones Dragon Size
Then the Dragon King sought the advice of the greatest scholars, alchemists, and scientists in Kambria about rebuilding the Realm. These scholars advised the Dragon King that with their calculations, it would take 13 years to restore all of Kambria to full strength. 'So it be said, so it be written, so shall it be done!' said the Dragon King and reconstruction of the Realm began with designs of beauty, technology, and unique architecture never seen before.
In addition to The Dragon Thrones, the Golden Dragon King gifted each Kingdom, in order in which they took the Oath of the Golden Court, a large sum of resources to rebuild. Creating what he called The Rule of Favor. Shortly after rebuilding began, The Dragon King then announced a competition, one that would prove which House was the best in the Realm. The competition would be called The Great Ascension!
During the 13-years, all war and outward fighting would be unsanctioned, illegal, and highly disallowed by The Dragon King, with enormous consequences if one or any kingdom broke this law - forcing a great peace called 'The Tranquility' upon the Realm. The Tranquility was enforced by the Golden Court’s Justices, who would ensure that peace was maintained and could act as judge and jury in the field if the law and order of the Tranquility was disobeyed. The Tranquility would always last precisely 13 years, and any House that took up arms against another would be immediately punished and pushed to the bottom of the Dragon King's favor. House Rank. The House of the Golden Dragon would keep all the other Houses satisfied during peaceful times, as long as the Houses paid their fair share of resources back to the Dragon King and gave their absolute loyalty at all times. They would always be allowed their own Rule, Laws, Culture, Religions, and Customs, as long as they didn't conflict with The Rule of the Golden Dragon.
Each House in Kambria was unique in some way, all possessing home resources that were unique to their lands. The Houses would give the majority of these resources to the Dragon King in exchange for a favor, peace, and use of their Dragon Throne. The ruling classes of the Houses would place nothing over the ownership of their Dragon Throne, not even the needs of their own people, the Dragon Thrones were everything. It is said that 'One beam, no matter how strong, cannot support an entire House on its own, unless it is a Dragon Throne.'
Once The Tranquility expired, The Great Ascension would begin, an epic competition of games, trails, and war that would engulf all of Kambria. Participation was mandatory, as commanded by the Dragon King and the High Rulers of Kambria through the power of their Dragon Throne. The Great Ascension would pit House versus House, Kingdom versus Kingdom in an all-out global contest with the victors obtaining the highest House Rank in The Rule of Favor of the Golden Court, and the losers, or those who showed less competitive spirit, a lower rank. The highest houses are called the honorable 'Favored,' and the lower-ranked are the shameful 'Disfavored' Houses To be a Favored house meant an easier rebuild and more prosperity during the 13 years of Tranquility. To be a Disfavored House meant that it would be a long and painful 13 years rebuilding to try again in the next Ascension.
The victorious High Rulers from the top Favored House would then ascend to the Golden Court and become one of the esteemed members of the House of the Golden Dragon. They would forever be viewed as Champions of their Kingdom Houses and would Ascend at a grand ceremony and celebration at the end of games.
Once Ascended, members of the Golden Court then sponsor Kingdom Houses in future games, bestowing upon their chosen Houses specialized resources and influence (a small Gift of Benefaction - gifted to them by the Golden Dragon - allowing them to sway the odds of the competition in favor of House in which they have placed their sponsorship. The sponsors whose Houses are victorious in The Ascension then rise in influence and prominence within the Golden Court itself. There are several internal alliances and rivalries within the court that only those who have ascended to the House of the Golden Dragon know about. It is said in the Golden Court, 'Guessing is cheap, but guessing wrong can be expensive…'
Dragon Throne Game
Out in the field, The Ascension tests every aspect of a House, their skill in battle, diplomacy trade, and artistry, as the Dragon King is wise and knows wars are won in many different ways. However, all is not equal in love and war, as there is a diabolical element to The Ascension, one of the main objectives of the games is to be the House that captures the most Dragon Thrones, making the games the polar opposite of the Tranquility, during The Ascension treachery is paramount and Kambria is blood-soaked.
Dragon Throne Game
Viewed from the perspective of the House of the Dragon, The Ascension itself is a means to balance life and power in Kambria, and it is also a lesson that the Golden Dragon authority shall never be challenged. In exchange, the Dragon Thrones will remain to enchant and empower the High Rulers of the grand Houses of Kambria, and the Realm will always be rebuilt together ever grander than it was before, as this is the promise of the Dragon King, and the King has never broken a promise. This summer, it will have been 13 years since the last Ascension. The Tranquility is over, and the competition is set to begin! The House Rankings have been the same for 13 years, and each ruling class of each House is vying for ways to win at all costs to have their victors ascend to the Golden Court. The Dragon Thrones are 'speaking' again to the High Rulers, they are whispering in their minds that this time, this moment, it will be their House that reaches the apex of the House Rankings!
Tyrion And The Dragons
